Dr. Julia Poertner, MA (Dalhousie), MA (Freiburg), PhD (Dalhousie), Assistant Professor (CLT). Born and raised in Northern Germany, I have been living in Nova Scotia for over 14 years. I teach German language and literature courses. My areas of expertise are 20th century literature, culture, and history. I am especially interested in interdisciplinary research in the humanities, fusing literary and historical narratives.
Current courses: GERM 1013/1023 German for Beginners I & II, GERM 2913 From War to War (a survey of German political and social history through literary and historical narratives between WW1 and WW2), GERM 2923 Division and Unification (a survey of German political and social history through literary and historical narratives from 1945-1990).
